Pokemon Union Circles are a multiplayer feature in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that allow trainers to connect and play together. Using special codes, players can join each other's games for various activities including raids, picnics, and exploration.
Visual Guide to Union Circles
Open the X Menu
Press the X button on your Nintendo Switch to open the main menu.
Select Poké Portal
Navigate to the purple Poké Portal icon in the menu.
Choose Union Circle
Select the Union Circle option from the Poké Portal menu.
Create a Group
Select "Create a Group" to host your own Union Circle.
Set Password (Optional)
Choose whether to set a password for your Union Circle.
Share Your Code
Your 6-character code will be displayed at the top of the screen. Share this code with friends or on our website.
Wait for Players
Wait for up to 3 other players to join your Union Circle using your code.
Types of Union Circle Codes
There are three different types of codes used in the Union Circle system, depending on your connection status and what you're trying to do:
- 4-character code - Used when you're playing offline and want to connect with friends locally
- 6-character code - The standard online code used when hosting or joining a Union Circle online
- 8-character code - Used when searching for a specific battle or trade outside the Union Circle
How to Host a Union Circle
- Press the X button to open the main menu
- Select Poke Portal (the purple icon)
- Choose Union Circle
- Select Create a Group
- Choose whether to set a password or not
- Your 6-character code will be displayed at the top of the screen
- Share this code with friends who want to join your Union Circle
- Wait for others to join (up to 3 other players can join your group)
How to Join a Union Circle
- Press the X button to open the main menu
- Select Poke Portal (the purple icon)
- Choose Union Circle
- Select Join Others
- Enter the 6-character code shared by the host
- If the host set a password, you'll need to enter it
- Press OK to join the Union Circle
Activities You Can Do in a Union Circle
Once you've joined a Union Circle, you can participate in various activities:
- Tera Raid Battles - Team up with other players to take on powerful Terastallized Pokemon
- Picnics - Host picnics with friends to make sandwiches, play with your Pokemon, and wash them
- Trading - Exchange Pokemon with other players in your Union Circle
- Battles - Challenge other players to Pokemon battles
- Photo Mode - Take group photos with other players
- Exploration - Explore the Paldea region together and help each other find rare Pokemon
Tips for Using Union Circles Effectively
- Coordinate with voice chat - Using Discord or another voice chat service can make coordination much easier
- Set a meeting point - The Paldea region is large, so agree on a location to meet up
- Be patient when connecting - Sometimes it takes a few attempts to join a Union Circle
- Mark your code as full - Once your Union Circle has 4 players, mark it as full on our platform
- Check your internet connection - A stable internet connection is essential for a good multiplayer experience
- Update your game - Make sure you have the latest version of Pokemon Scarlet or Violet
